We welcomed a brilliant range of companies, universities, colleges and training providers into the academy to speak with our Year 10, 11, 12 and 13 students about the many pathways open to them after school. From apprenticeships and training routes to further and higher education, students had the chance to ask questions, explore their options and start thinking about the future they want to build. Our students had an incredible day at Girton College, University of Cambridge! The visit began with a talk on what happens at university, followed by a tour of the college to see what life in Higher Education is really like. Students then had the chance to: • Ask current Cambridge students about their university experiences and how they prepared for the application process • Take part in taster lectures on the search for extra-terrestrial life • Explore why the Humanities are important, including meeting Girton College’s very own Egyptian mummy, Hermione! Our students were a real credit to the academy, asking pertinent questions and giving thoughtful, considered answers. Our Year 9 students headed off on their second trip of the Forward Thinking programme for a Subject Taster Day, getting a real taste of university life! Students sat in on mock lectures in two very different subjects: • English Literature: exploring monsters in literature, before designing monsters of their very own. • Biology: learning how certain autoantibodies can make people more vulnerable to developing Type 1 Diabetes, then carrying out a practical test to see if these antibodies were present in samples. A brilliant day of curiosity, creativity and science. Well done Year 9!

It’s T Levels Week, and what better way to mark it than with a Health and Social Care T Level talk from @Sandwell College! Our students learned what a T Level is and how it combines classroom learning with real industry experience. They also got hands-on with specialist equipment, seeing first-hand how it’s used in health and social care settings. The team also gave students valuable advice on whether a T Level could be the right route into their desired career, helping them make informed choices about their next steps.
